Kallang Revived!

January 28th, 2007

yesterday there was the eesip test at acsi, the test suk but the school is nice. dey haf fantastic football pitches. after the test we wanted to go to clementi for a meal but ended up at harbourfront instead, so we ate there and then i 963-ed home with zhihao.

I left for kallang at around 4 and reached at arnd 5? onli timo there though, the others still on the way. while waiting, timo got pissed off and started calling everyone to hurry up. We then walked towards the stadium after everyone came. everyone took 2 nike posters each den we queued arnd 1hr for our dinner at mac, there were dam lot of ppl there, all in red of cuz.

We sat at the south entrance cuz the best place which is at the east entrance is full. The view wasnt great but at least those ppl around us were enthusiastic ones who initiated countless of kallang waves. The match then began with both sides singing the national anthem. Everyone boo-ed the malaysia anthem but sang with pride when its time for the singapore anthem. Singapore dominated the first-half and we could haf scored a few goals. Second half suk in my opinion cuz malaysia scored thru a weak strike by eddy helmi which lionel spilled. but then we made a comeback when ridhuan put us on level from a simple rebound. but it sucked too cuz i was so ecstatic that i dropped my white zinc bag on the muddy ground tmd la and also becuz it was so far away from us. Singapore den carried on attacking throughout the rest of the 2nd half but no goals though. Dun buy anything at the stadium. 1 small coke cost 2.50. Xtra time also had both sides failing to convert their oppotunities and singapore obviously had more chances. Then it was down to Penalty kicks to decide the winner. We were arguing whether the pk will be held at the nearest goalpost or the further one and tadah it was to be held at the nearest one- in our favour. lionel lewis made up for his mistake by saving msia’s last spot kick. that save made sure we are on our way to the finals.

The best moment was the period after the match. The players bonded with each other while we started chanting ‘ole, ole, ole’ all the way from the stadium to mrt. we keep shouting buto during the match although we dun even noe wad it means. (Buto stands for cock). If the lions plays lyk dis in every match, the fans will no doubt come back for more. full house ytday btw. 55,000 ppl. tickets sold out by 4.30 lol. i took some vids so tat i would be able to revive these moments in the future. oh ya **** my phone too, it cocked uup at the wrong time. i wanted to record the save made by lionel and the chanting of ‘ole, ole, ole’ and also the buto cheer. suay….

i took the last 106 home from clementi, reached home @ 12.

Singapore vs Indonesia

January 18th, 2007

Yesterday the last Group B match for Singapore was again played at the National Stadium. Singapore held on to a 2-2 draw against Indonesia to emerge as Group B winners. WE got off to a bright start when Ridhuan Muhammad raced down the right wing in spectacular fashion but the cross was too hard for Indra who nearly got onto it. In the 10th minute a perfect pass from Daniel Bennet found Indra Sahdan who raced into the penalty box before being brought down by Hendro, the indonesian keeper. Penalty was the decision and noh alam shah easily sent hendro the wrong way. Then on the 21st minute Shahril Ishak was booked after a controversial line call from the ref. fk him. Indonesia then scored thru Ilham after the Singapore defence turned shabby. the halftime talk from Avramovich proved useful when on the 52nd minute alam shah sent in a cross for indra who took it with his thigh. erol iba tried to clear it but all it went was to the upright and fell for indra’s header. 2-1 singapore. 56th minute. indonesia scored thru Ilham which could be a contender for the goal of the tournament. from a corner, he expertly cushioned it down with his chest before sending a spectacular lob over lionel lewis. Indra, Bennet and Amri then spilled chances to add to the tally. anway 2-2 was the final score and singapore booked a meeting with their causeway rival, M’sia., on Jan 23 (Shah Alam Stadium) and the return Leg. on Jan 27(National Stadium). most probably, me and frens will be going =).

Singapore vs Laos

January 16th, 2007

As promised, I’ll elaborate more on the ASEAN Football Championship 2007 (Tiger Cup) even if u dun lyk it cuz im soccer football mad. So yesterday, 15th Jan 2007, Singapore played Laos at the National Stadium with about 6000 home fans attending it. We opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Ridhuan Muhammad and a minute later it became 2-0 courtesy of Noh Alam Shah. Alam Shah extended the lead to 3-0 in the 24th minute before the Lions went quiet from the rest of the first half. As they say, its the calm before the storm. Shahril Ishak tapped home in the 47th straight after the second half began from Hafiz Osman’s pass. Alam Shah den got his hattrick in the 60th minute before Khairul Amri made it 6-0 in the 71st minute after yet another fine pass by Hafiz Osman. Alam Shah den added two more in the 72nd and 76th minute. Itimi Dickson made it 9 on the 79th minute. As you know we singaporeans are ‘kiasu’, so the fans began chanting “we want ten”. Their wish was granted in the 88th minute after Khairul Amri lobbed a high ball for Alam Shah to head in. Then came the injury time when Noh “The Alam King” Shah delivered a bicycle kick which hit the crossbar before going in after Khairul Amri’s initial shot had struck the same spot and bounced off to him. 11-0 the final result. 7 goals for Noh Alam Shah. We’ve juz witness a piece of Singapore football history. btw thats the most number of goals we haf ever scored.

Singapore vs Vietnam

January 13th, 2007

The 2nd match of Group B kicked off at 2000hrs at our dear national stadium. Its probably the last match before its knocked down to make way for a new sports hub.

The Game

The Game finished 0-0. Vietnam constantly troubled us and they had a goal disallowed for a push on Aide the Captain. On the positive side, we managed to create chances after chances but seriously we did not work hard enuff to trouble their keeper. Indra Sahdan Daud, the star, hurt himself in training and only came on on the 75th minute. you should really hear the cheers from the home crowd when he came on. He was a livewire and together with Dickson they helped make Singapore an even bigger threat for the last 15 minutes and we could haf taken a lead late into the gAme when a through ball by indra found dickson who volleyed wide. But a draw was expected and Vietnam is our bigget threat so i guess we are safe for now.

Liverpool’s match also ended on a high note. They completely outclassed Watford by 3 goals to nil.

Crouch had two,

Bellamy had one,

Liverpool had three,

Watford had none.

Rhymes rite. haha
